Turn Your Thesis Into a Volunteer Opportunity!
EduContribution Launches "Donate Your Thesis" Pilot
EduContribution, a service-learning nonprofit facilitating GIS projects between education and nonprofits, is looking for students to participate in the first phase of its "Donate Your Thesis" program. Graduate students who need a topic for their thesis will be paired with nonprofits who need a GIS project completed, but can't afford it. The students will use the project as their thesis, completing the project in full for the nonprofit while finishing their course work.
What kind of students are we looking for?
The Donate Your Thesis initiative is an effort to link eager, capable graduate students seeking a topic for their GIS thesis project with small nonprofits. We are looking for a small group of dedicated students who are interested in environmental and social justice GIS work. Of course, the project that's best for you will depend mostly on your passions and your dedication... but they also depend on your Masters or Doctoral program. We'll need to know a few things about your program before we get started, and we'll probably want to speak to your thesis advisor.
What does this mean for students?
Students can choose from our currently available pilot projects. If they find one that sparks their interest, we will introduce them to the client and do everything we can to facilitate project outcomes so the project is beneficial for everyone involved.
What does this mean for nonprofits?
Nonprofits who can't afford GIS get professional-level work for free!
How do I sign up?
We only have a limited number of spots available for these pilot programs. Please fill out the application here.
